Recently, every Wednesday morning, the Jesse Cosby Neighborhood Center in Cedar Falls comes alive with energy and curiosity as Maxona Care is honored to educate the seniors its ongoing Health & Wellness Series for Seniors. For over three weeks, we’ve welcomed neighborhood residents and their families to educative, interactive sessions that cover essential topics—from preventing falls at home to building balanced meal plans, and caring for aging eyes. Here’s an inside look at our program and why it’s a valuable community resource.
1. A Trusted Community Partnership
Maxona Care is proud to partner with the Jesse Cosby Neighborhood Center, a cornerstone of Cedar Falls–Waterloo community life. By offering no-cost educational talks in a familiar, supportive environment, we reach seniors who may be home-bound, socially isolated, or simply looking for practical tips to maintain independence. Our relationship with the Center helps us:
Extend our mission of empowering seniors to live safely and with dignity at home.
Gather real-time feedback on the issues that matter most to older adults in our region.
Build trust through face-to-face engagement and follow-up resources.
2. Topics That Matter
Over the past weeks, our roster of talks has included:
Week Topic Key Takeaways Fall Prevention Home modifications, exercise routines How to identify hazards, simple balance drills Senior Nutrition Building meal groups & snack ideas Easy recipes, protein targets, hydration tips Vision Care Protecting eyesight with diet & habits Lutein-rich foods, UV protection
Each 30-minute session combines a concise presentation with group discussion. Participants leave with the confidence to apply strategies immediately—whether that’s rearranging a throw rug or prepping a protein-boosted snack.
